10 months post-surgery

I haven't posted on here in many months now. It has been about 10 months now since I had my AVM removed. Having a hemorrhage two days after surgery made progress much slower, but I've accomplished a lot since I had my surgery . I just finished my first semester of a Master's program and did very well despite still having lingering reading difficulties caused by the bleed and I know I'm very lucky to only have these minor problems.

It feels like forever ago now, while at the same time it feels like it was just yesterday. The whole thing is still very present in my day to day life and the memories are still just as strong. When I think back to those first few months it's honestly a really emotional thing for me. I was just wondering if others have had similar experiences post-surgery. It'd be great to hear from some of you about how you've dealt with everything.

Matt

Hi Matt,
It's good to hear from you again.
BIG congrats on succeeding your first semester of a Master's program! and relatively soon after surgery. Yay!!! That's truly amazing & inspiring.
My first bleed was 25 yrs. ago & I remember it all very well & it changed my life forever (I think for the better).
So yes, your AVM experience has impacted your life, yet it sounds like you're moving forward in a positive direction, dispite any deficits or challenges secondary to your AVM or surgery.
Cheering you on!

Matt,
I'm so amazed and impressed with your accomplishments. Congrats to you! It's been just over 5 years since my bleed and sometimes it does seem just like yesterday. It's not something that I can't not think about. My defecits are so very present all the time. It is so much of who I've become. That's not a bad thing necessarily. The whole experience changed me for the better despite what I've lost. Now I'm more able to find a silver lining in most situations. I find more joy in the little things. I hope you continue on that upward path.

Thanks for the positive vibes and comments! It's good to hear from everyone. It's definitely been a journey these past 10 months, both mental and physical, but like you all said , I feel that I'm better for it. It's really helped to put everything into perspective.

Again, thanks for sharing your personal experiences and your advice!
