I was pretty much unconscious by the time the physicians got to me, but they first tried embolizing my AVM for hours and then when that didn't work, they sent me in for a craniotomy, in which they removed the AVM. The outcome was OK. It took me a year to recover, but they think that was more due to the extent of my bleed than the actual brain surgery. It is a little over a year and a half now, and I'm still struggling cognitively, but I'm making it back there.
AVM in right temporal lobe that was excessively bleeding. After CT and angiogram the surgeon recommended a craniotomy to remove AVM (I don’t remember any of this as I had a stroke at the time of the bleed also.) This all happened in May 2010. Doing well, only deficit I seem to have is bad short term memory.

Stereostatic radiosurgery (GK). My AVM's location did not make surgical removal or embolization reasonable options. It had already hemorraged so doing nothing was not an option either.
