Hello joy here been a while since I posted here not since 2015 in fact. I went through open brain surgery back in December 2014 with my husband Jonny by my side. I was given the all clear after my surgery however out of nowhere I’ve been told my avm is back:sob:. The worst is my husband Jonny was tragically killed in a car crash just under 3 years ago at the age of 29. A part of me died that day I feel like I’m just existing. How am I meant to go through this again without him by my side. Ive been reading the messages Jonny send to you all in tears
Joy,
I can only say that, so much as you want to get support here and tell us what’s going on, do so. That’s what we are here for.
Very best wishes,
Richard
Joy,
I can’t imagine the emotions you must be experiencing. We are here to lean on and as Richard says to lend any support we can. John.
Hi jg, You’re telling Noah about the flood. The only difference-- my surgery was in 1973. So in that sense consider yourself very lucky.
It was around 8 hrs., saw open the skull… quite invasive to say the least. I have a big ear to ear scar. On top of that they didn’t get the whole AVM so had to go through it again while still raw… On top of that, the scar tissue has resulted in seizures for the rest of my life.
From your description/pic you’re 44 and in a relationship that could be supportive. I was 14, the height of adolecence trying to figure out girls, my body… every emotional hurdle we all go through. Of course that was a miserable flop and I ended up with no self-confidence and screwed up psychologically.
So, you may ask… Who cares? Why are you telling me all this crap?
I’m really just trying to put this in perspective for you and give you a tiny bit to feel grateful for in a dismal time in your life. It could be worse brother!
Hopefully your surgery is less invasive and you won’t have all of the physical and emotional scars I have. The really good news is that the surgical techniques are probably a lot better and you’ll probably end up fine. (At least that’s what I’m hoping for you.) Best wishes, Greg
