Can Mobile Phones affect you?

This maybe is a bit left field or nuances of paranoia but around 10 years ago, and being left handed, I used to use my right ear to use my mobile. After around a year I noticed my hearing was getting worse in the right ear.
I went to see an ENT surgeon and he told me I had Oterclerosis, a softening of the bones in my inner ear.
I had a operation to replace this bone with a platinum piston. This op was a complete success and my hearing returned to me better than before in that ear, however during my recovery, I stared to use my left ear for my mobile.
A year later I noticed a reduction of hearing in my left ear and had the same op in this ear.
I also have a few sinus problems which I had another op to relieve the pressure.

Anyway since then all has been good, however looking back over the last 6 years, I started to feel a slight pain in my left forehead, where I later found my AVM was seated, whenever I had a good belly laugh. I didn't take much notice of this until a couple of months ago I had my AVM diagnosed.
I use mobile phones all the time with work which has increased over the last 10 years which coincides with all these problems I have been encountering.
Can mobile phone use aggravate an AVM or cause it to grow. I understand that AVM's are congenital so the mobile phone wouldn't have caused it, but it makes you think????
I only use my mobile now on speaker or hands free and never near my head.
Since the advent of smart phones, I wonder if these require more microwaves to operate efficiently.
Spooky stuff.

Hi Stuart,

Not to my knowledge. I never heard of a cell phone having any effect on an avm. I myself, still wonder about the long term effects (on the body) of cell phones in general. My guess is - give it another 20 years and they will discover that it's causing something. Isn't that how it normally works? hee hee.

To my knowledge, all the clips/etc used in the brain are non-metalic, such as titanium. Non metal means not affected by magnets, so phones shouldn't have any effect.

I know that one MRI Chari had following her aneurysm clip (with TI clips), the guys reading the charts saw the clips on the films and called her immediately. They didn't know about the clips and were afraid that if they were metal, the MRI might have moved them. They were very nervous, until she told them what they were.
