Headaches

Hi Darren, Sorry it has taken me a while to respond things have been a bit crazy. I have heard of several people using the clonazepam for anxiety. It would be great if we became friends and shared stories and help keep spirits up. Have a great day and hope to hear back soon.

Hi Darren...its been 2 years + for me also and i also get headaches a lot...but paracetamol usually works for me...i have always been told if they get worse there is stronger medication that can be given.

I would speak to your neuro & ask them what they think is the best option seeing as the paracetamol isnt working...hope all works out buddy & God bless.

Hello Darren
I am so sorry about your head pain. I know doctors just up our meds! Hello could it be a new issue?
I had a massive stroke due to blood clots in March of 2011 and then a few months later felt worse and I developed a complex DAVF which they did an embolism in Jan of 2012 which caused more pain. I do see a pain Neuro at Stanford and I get botox shots in my head every three months. It has helped I can not say I am pain free but it does allow me to function. I also started to take Naltrexone which seems to be helping me. I take turmeric, B12, B1 and magnesium to help with pain and inflammation.
I also have tons of ice packs and sometimes just put them all over my head and stay in bed and watch either old movies or comedies.
Do you have a Pain Neuro?
Angela

Hello Angela, sorry to here about your blood clots but happy that you've find some sort of pain relief. I don't have a pain Neuro how do you get one of them? I'm on the NHS in England they've been brilliant so far but nobody has mentioned about a Neuro pain specialist. I see a Epilepsy Neurologist, also a Physiotherapist consultant, Orthopedic Surgeon also my local doctor. I have a appointment with my Epilepsy Neurologist on the 15th April at Derriford Hospital so will mention to him about one, his name is Dr.M.Sadler. There was a chance of me having botox but the specialist decided not to go head I guess everyone is different. I'm starting to have pain at the back of my head now behind my right ear it's not all the time it comes and goes, but I have problems with my right shoulder because of the massive stroke I suffered from my original AVM. I like to watch films, but I'm a massive snooker fan I would play at least 4 time a week before this happened to me. I hope you are feeling ok today the weather here in England is cold, it's ment to be the start of spring and some parts of our country has six foot of snow, crazy! anyway thanks for your reply hope to hear from you again. :)

Hello marine brat I would love to become your friend and share my story with you. I hope your ok ? It's been sort of crazy over here in England. My wife's cousin had a car crash last week and lost his life, he was driving back to college when it happened. He was only 23 years old, his funeral was on the 27th March it was a very sad day. He was a massive Liverpool FC fan we were all in Liverpool football shirts he also had a Liverpool coffin. Sometimes life throws things at you you don't expect and the trick is deal with them and carry on, easier said than done, that's why I like this forum because people on here are so supportive. Anyway sorry to babble on, I hope every is good your end speak soon, :)

Hello Darren
I am so sorry you are having head pain every day. I had a fistula on the left side and was in surgery for 7 hours. I have head pain every day as well and often get migraines. I see a Pain Neuro at Stanford ( California) and what she told me after my embolism and added pain was that if I did not address the pain soon that it would be chronic pain and I would be like that for the rest of my life.
They started with a nerve block at my occipital lobes and that helped for the lower half on my head for about three weeks. I think they have to do that for our insurance and then I got 30 botox shot all around my head. They can do botox every three months which is what I have been doing for a little over a year and it does help. It does take about three weeks to kick in and once it does it really helps. Then it wears off for me about two weeks before the three months date is up . Overall it has reduced the intensity of the pain. I also take Gabapentin 3600mg a day. I also take magnesuim 500-750mg a day. Many of us are magnesuim deficient.
Sleep is very important. They did try me on Topamax but I was never able to be awake when I took it but I am a light weight.
Also for pain I take tramadol which does not make me throw up. Also my pain neuro said I need to have protein with every meal and not to skip meals.
Can you get Botox in your head?
Angela

Darren -
