Im so sorry you had a bleed, I had one bleed and it was terrible,It was this past christmas ans it was a major bleed I was in the hospital for a month and its taking me still three months to get over this bleed, This is my first and I hope last, I was in the hospital as I said for a month and cant even recall a minute of it, I was flown from my school where the bleed happened to the hospital three hours by car and 20 minutes the flight to shands hospital to the best hospital ,I stayed for a month ,had two brain surgeries, and one chest surgery for a shunt for bleedingin the future,They ran a shunt from my brain the my stomach in case i ever have another bleed the blood would runinto the shunt and save my life, what a ride ive been through, still have my avm, the doctor will remove it next!! yuck! he said my bleed was from my avm, anyway hope you are doing much better,,God bless you and your family,,

Wow that sounds crazy Cheryl,I'm glad you're feeling much better!

I think I've had 2 bleeds, the 1st one I didn't know what it was, I couldn't even get into the hospital it was an 8 hour wait, so I just stayed at home and took a week to recover (ah the 'joys' of not having health insurance!). My head was so twisted at times, I couldn't stand sound or motion and just laid there for a week thinking of a palm tree on a desert island and me asleep under it. That's all I could stand. Good thing I had my mom and grandma around at the time.

So 5 years later I had another one, but I was living alone in another state. The headache was as bad as that first time (yup it was squeezing my head too) and I knew whatever it was was pretty serious, so I went to the hospital and yup that was the second time! I'd had a back ache for at least a week before and had also been feeling sick like I was coming down with a cold. I went to the emergency room and they recognized it as something serious (finally!) and got me right in. And that's when the whole AVM circus started!

Oh my gosh! I'm glad you are getting better. I had a brain infection once. So I know how you felt and the confusion that comes with it. Along with the lack of control we get from it. Not a fun time, that's for certain! Thank God your dr. found it.

To answer your question: I only ever had one bleed and it was mild. At least since my last MRI 2 yrs ago.

wow Cheryl, I pray it never happens to you again, I had one bleed and spent a month in the hospital, they put shunts all in my body that has to stay now for life in case I bleed again,I stayed for a month and cant even think of a second there, cant remember a minute of it,the bleed was so terrible that they eneded up running a shunt from my brain to my stomach in case i bleed again,im about to go back in for more surgery, they are about to glue my brain avm and then three days later remove it,with a 20 percent cance of no voice when it is all done or bleeding again if i leave it,so on the 4th they will glue it and wait three days and then reopen my head and remove it.im praying its not as bad as it sounds,,God bless you and your family,,Caroline

Cheryl, Sorry you had to go through that. I had my first bleed on 12/24/11. I was in hospital 11 days, ICU for 4 days and a different rehab. facility for another 7 days. I had an angiogram on 12/27/11 and it was decided embolization would be too difficult so I had a craniotomy on 3/23/12. I am doing better-residual effects on balance and walking from bleed. I have a very small wisp of avm left-it was too deep within healthy brain tissue to remove. We are going to radiate it if possible or if too small to target Dr. will watch it. I hope that things go better for you in the future. Take Care of yourself.
