Is there any hope?

Hi Shirasaya, Good for you in offering Kala some empathy. I wish you well and hope you have a magical holiday season.

Hi Matt, 17 years ago I had a massive cerebral hemorrhage after a successful removal of my AVM. COULDN’T walk or talk. Long story short, every year since then I STILL have major improvements. After about 10 years I had a major breakthrough with my speech. And this summer I ran (jogged) at Tilicum Beach on the Oregon coast for the first time in 17 years! So don’t give up, Matt!

Kayla, I still take oxycodone for my headaches a long with a variety of other meds and constipation cones along with it. I try to take at least 2 stool softeners every night, before bed. They sometimes help but not all the time, but are at least worth a try if you haven’t already. Good Luck with that, and know that you are not alone in that area at all.

Congratulations on your nuptials! Relax. Everything will eventually move along. Morphine and other medications really slow everything down. Drink plenty of water and take a stool softener and you will soon be good as new.

Hi, what was your major breakthrough in speech? Did you do anything particular to accomplish the breakthrough? Just curious, it's been four years since my daughter's hemorrhage and she still has difficulty with speech.

The plasticity of the brain can be really amazing, so hopefully with time yours can heal. My problems after rupture/surgery (my AVM actually ruptured right as it was about to be embolized) are mostly gone. My surgery was nine years ago. I think it can take a long time in some cases, and I hope your problems get better like mine did. My only problem now is that I cannot feel some areas on the right side of my rib cage. I think it's because that's the side I was laying on while I was operated on, which took more than 8 hours. I think the nerves there were damaged, but I feel more of that area than I used to. I had seizures and aphasia, but they stopped relatively soon after surgery.
