Rachele...this may be an intersting site for you to read: http://www.insureme.com/life-insurance/no-medical-life-insurance
Hey Beth ! from uk so dont need health insurance but I have a life insurance with critcal illness cover on it, thought it might ease up the work pressure for him, take more work at home instead of London, but, although one bleed could be it for him, its still no good, not on there list ! as if a rare condition would be. i feel so angry about it. thank you x
I wanted to let you guys know that under some conditions, you can get private life insurance. The great thing through work is that they don't do the medical screening and background check but the bad thing is having to stay with the company for it.
Anyway, I've been looking for something for my brother-in-law who had his AVM rupture in his brain. They operated and he's fine now. Our agent found Kansas City Life who would insure him at the standard rate. He's 31 and a $1M 20-year term policy is about $99/mo. The "in great health" premium for his age is about half that. So the private insurance option is out there.
The ironic thing when I applied almost 20 years ago, I was denied, people with HIV were accepted.
One other thing to consider is time. If you have an AVM or have it treated, a few yrs after, you might try to apply again. If you push your company, they might change your risk.
Can't hurt.
