My AVM Survival Story is Published!

My book, Unstoppable Life was just published and is now ready. Written by my husband and myself, it walks through the experiences from my unexpected AVM bleed this past April, emergency brain surgery and my near death vision of the afterlife. Then it explains my struggle to recover, and how my appreciation of life has caused me to change the way I view life and the changes my husband and I have made to make our lives more fulfilling, happier and absolutely unstoppable!

It's almost written as a workbook, with exercises that will guide the reader through their own understanding of their passions, priorities and the things that they need to say or do to create their own unstoppable life.

It's a short, easy read with plenty of humor, and is good for anyone, not just people who are suffering from an AVM or other illness, although we will understand it from a very personal level.

I'm truly hoping that this book inspires people to live better, while spreading the word about AVM's and the difficulty of recovering from brain trauma. Please pass the word around and help me get this book out to everyone and anyone! If my experience can changes lives for the better, it will make it all worthwhile. And maybe more people will understand about AVM's and they won't be so often misdiagnosed.

I've set up a special link for my AVM buddies, where you can buy the book at a discount, and the publisher has agreed to donate $2 from each of these purchases to Ben's Friends to help with the costs associated of keeping this wonderful AVM Survivors site available to us.

Go to www.TheUnstoppableLife.com and look for the "AVM" link. Or, iIf you would rather have an autographed book, just write "AVM" in the comment area and I will make sure the donation is counted. It's also available on Amazon.com, but they can't do the donation and discount from that site.

We're also hoping to hold seminars to teach people what we have learned. We have one in Corona, CA on December 14th. If you are interested in attending a seminar in your area, let me know where and I will try to contact local churches or organizations that might be willing to promote and host a seminar.

Thanks!

PS: The afterlife is absolutely breathtaking!

Congratulations on the publishing of your book, Kat! I will definitely buy a copy and let you know what I think of it. I know that it will be a wonderful read! It's also great that a portion of the proceeds will go to this wonderful site.

Let me know how your seminars go.

Best wishes, Leslye

Thanks! I have my first seminar tomorrow in Corona and I have about 70 people signed up. They published a story in the local paper yesterday about the seminar...it also talks about AVM's and how they are often misdiagnosed. The more we get the word out the less likely people will have problems with diagnosis. When we called 9-11,the EMT tried to convince my husband I just had a migraine and didn't need an ambulance. The neurosurgeon said 15 more minutes and I wouldn't have lived. It's my mission to help people understand how precious life is, and to get the word out about AVM's. I'm still walking with a cane and have some memory issues, so I've got a lot of cue cards and help to get through this 2-hour seminar. Fingers crossed that I can make a difference!

Hey Kat - congratulations on your book being published, and on the seminar!

Please let us know how the seminar went.

Tori

Hello Kat! I'm from the Philippines, and I would like to ask if your book is available here? i would really love to read it.

I think you can order it from www.amazon.com and they ship worldwide, but if you have trouble, post a message to me and I will find a way to get a book to you. Thanks for your interest. :-)

I know you will make a difference. It's wonderful what you are doing. How was your conference in Corona?

What you are doing is important work, it will definitely help others be aware of this rare condition. I had no idea what an AVM was while I had my rupture. It had taken a CT Scan, an MRI and an Angiogram for the doctors to find it. Before it was found, my primary care doctor told me that I just had a migraine and I believed her. If my coworkers hadn't suggested that I go to the emergency room where I got the CT scan, I probably wouldn't be here so I appreciate what you're doing.

I hope that your recovery continues to go well.

Hugs.

I had so much fun at the seminar! And I think it made a difference for at least some of them. We had about 60 people there (which is about capacity) and we shared our story and how we have decided to change our lives. We had them fill out their bucket list, and a few other exercises. I explained AVM's and how they're so often misdiagnosed. A few people came up afterward to tell me they had a family member that died from something that might have been an AVM, but never diagnosed as such. Not one member of the audience had ever heard of an AVM - so hopefully it's helping to talk about it.

I honestly believe my stubbornness helped me recover as quickly and as well as I did. We need to reach down deep and pull out the FIGHT in each of us...and we can accomplish anything! :-)

hi kat, could for you well done! Is there any chance of a sample paragraph we can read, just a small slice? that would be cool?

Kat,
Congratulations! I have a copy and have read Kat's book. I'm here to say it's awesome and you'll love it. Again, way to go Kat!
