Open head surgery for the avms

How many people have had there heads cut open an had the avms cut out? Then had the steal plates put in? What's the recovery time? Things to look for? Also did any one have fluid behind the eyes on top of everything thing ealse?

Amanda, have you gotten to a better doctor yet? I know your first one didn't explain very well about avms. We have thousands of members here who have had craniotomies for brain avms.

Here are some links to some information about brain avms and surgery:

Hi Amanda. Every AVM is different so every recovery time is different. The only thing that is the same for everyone…you will be TIRED.
I know you are worried…perfectly normal. I thought it might help to know that mine was done 25 years ago and I am still alive and kicking as my father says! Also, read my friend Beansy’s profile…http://www.avmsurvivors.org/profile/IreneCarnahan Her craniotomy was performed 54 years ago! And she is still her too!
There have been huge advancements in medicine since that time! Try not too worry…think positive and I will be praying for you!
