Post-Nasal Drip

For the past couple of weeks, I have been experiencing post-nasal drip. I do not have a cold, I do not have allergies. It only seems to happen when I am somewhat active or of I have my head down. I have the avm in my brain and a cervical hemangioma. I see my neurosurgeon on the 15th, was wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

Hi Zilly,

I'm not familiar with this problem. I do know that there are pressure points at the base of the skull - on the left and the right side at the very top of the spine. That when pressure is applied there, it will open up your sinuses and cause them to drain (I do acupressure, that's how I know that). I doubt if it's coming for your avm. The hemangioma that you have, I don't know much about them. I would definitely mention it to your dr.

Hi, Zilly - Sorry, I haven't had this specific problem, either - but I have definitely developed allergies I haven't had before my bleed. Mine are skin allergies - I can't wear rings anymore and it turns out something was irritating me in my soap. These things never bothered be before - it's definitely worth a chat with your doctor.

It's been a while since I posted this. I still have this nasal drip going on. It only happens in my left nostril and when I am bending over or have my head downwards. It's really odd...I'm afraid of it being brain fluid, but I'm probably just over reacting, right? lol. I go for a mri with dye this Friday, guess I'll find out how it all looks up there in my head!

Good luck with your MRI! I have always had problems with nasal drip so it is nothing new to me but is it related??? Didn't think so but sinus cavities are in the area. Let us know what you find out. I was told if it was brain fluid it would have a certain look and feel and usually from the ear canal. No idea if that is true. Try not to stress! Easier said than done tho.

Haven't had a bleed I know of but am also developing allergies to everything, it seems like. Will indicate to doctor next time I see her and ask if it is related. Good luck!
