Has anyone here had to have their surgery at the very base of their head actually through their neck? If so, could you tell me about it? This is what I'll be facing.
Thanks!
Hi! My AVM was on my cerebellum on the left side and they had to cut my neck muscle to get to it. My head had a crick in it for many months afterwards and it was stiff and sore and hard to move for a long time because I just tried to keep it in one place. It still feels tight when I turn my head, but massages help out a lot. Where is your AVM located? If you have any other questions, just ask. :)
Nicole, thanks for your reply. He's going to try an embolization 1st. He said there's a 75% chance he can fix it that way but if not he'll have to do surgery and will likely go through my neck because mine is located at the base of my brain just above where it joins the spinal column. Makes me wonder if that's why I get a stiff and painful neck so often???
I hope the embo works. I have no idea what to expect if I have to have the surgery and would like to know.
