Symptoms, worried!

Hi, I have only knowen of my AVM a couple of months and have already been booked in for operation in May. I get the pulsating noise in my ear all the time and headaches seem to be daily. I don't know that much about all this either, it is new to me as well, but my prof said that I have at least a 70 percent chance of a major bleed at the moments so have to be a bit careful until the operation. I don't think you should worry about the GP, they don't seem to have a clue. I have been having symptoms for many years and they have only just found it.

Be careful go to the hospital straight away

Best of luck, keep us updated.

Whooshing noises are known as a bruit and are common with a AVM...

I would go to a hospital. Having an avm rupture is very painful and the consequences can be bad. Get an appointment to maybe have an angiogram so they can see whether or not it is large enough to cause harm.

Hi Donna Marie, Thanks for you rreply to my post! Are you in the UK atall? its just that the medical system is free here and that why i have to wait. They found mine in Feb of this year and i am booked to see a neurosurgeon in July, so that 5 month later! I hope you are well and and wish you all the very best in whatever you decide to do after speaking with your consultant! take care Lynn x xx

Hi, I have been following your progress now and then since I first read your post in April. You must have the appointment with the specialist this week, right? I wanted you to know I will be thinking about you, and hope all goes well. Please let me know how you do. I am an old lady (61) who had an AVM bleed in 1959, and am still around to talk about anything.
