Hello VKaye,
I had double vision after my cerebellum bleed which caused a hemorrhagic stroke and a brain aneurysm in May of 2011. The neuro-opthamologist prescribed glasses with prisms which I tried but ended having strabismus surgery in August 2012. Well no more double vision but last January the same opthamologist diagnosed me with nystagmus and said there was no correction available by either glasses or surgery so I just deal with the spinning when I turn. Due to the vision problems I have not driven since my injury. Of course you are much younger than me so hopefully you will heal and adjust much faster than me!
Susan
Oh reli I have never spoke to anyone with nystagmus so its good to finally speak to someone with it and although I have a lot of other problems that is my main thankyou yh I fink I’ve already started to adjust x
Thanks for the reply VKaye and I had never heard of nystagmus before my diagnosis so I too was relieved to see you ask the question. Actually, when I started experiencing problems from it I thought I having another stroke! Good for you for adjusting and I totally understand that!
Chari had double vision (one image raised over the other image). Dr said it would be temporary, but it lasted about 45 days. His treatment was to have her wear an eye patch, alternating eyes each day, so that neither would atrophy.
She was beginning to wonder if it would fix it, and one morning, she woke up and it was gone.
I never knew the technical name for it.
Best wishes,
Ron, KS
Omg ron, kansas that is encouraging to know thankyou even thought my nystagmus is the most annoying thing …so is the double vision hopefully it corrects itself. That’s what I’m holding on to and the reason I keep going I reli don’t know how it would b if I was told there was no hope…hope every1 is well x
Hello VKaye...I had double vision after my procedure, which lasted for over a month (I don't really remember how many days or weeks I had experienced this), but it did get better, slowly but surely. I've learned a lot of patience throughout my recovery. The best advice that I can give to you is to be patient with yourself. Best of wishes to you.
Ok thankyou I have hope that it will get better with time I just need to be patient I know I just sometimes think how much longer I’ve been so patient lol but thankyou x
I dnt understand all of this I’m just thick or too young to understand it all x
After my surgeries i had strabismus They fixed what they could w therapy but i still had a lot of the same symptoms as you. I had 2 surgeries but they didnt recommend a third. i have prisms now but i mean i think the only way to really fix this is to only use one eye but im a little afraid to completely shut one off.
Yh I no it would be hard to use one eye…I used prisms but didn’t reli work so going to try again …but that’s only for double the nystagmus is a whole different story xx
