Just wanted to put a blog post for those who want to use vitamins but find them pricey. I take butterbur, but it’s pricey. Last time I bought my usual (pentadolex) and also swanson vitamins. Was $50 versus $3. Night and day. Swanson has a good rep, and so far haven’t seen a difference. The web site is swansonvitamins.com and you can often go to retailmenot.com to see if they have a coupon code for free shippng or discounts.
I’m posting this because my neurologist asked ME about it ( he knows my web site laneysguide.com is about online shopping and stuff, so it wasn’t ‘out of the blue’. I also buy from amazon.com since vitamin shoppe doesn’t always have its own version of vitamins. I think the buttterbur is pretty new.
Just remember with any vitamins, always ask your doctor first. Vitamins have less side effects, but some do affect prescription medicine so be safe. safety first! if you have any questions, post me. I can see by my neurologist that they are not giving good info on buying vitamins.
I doubt that they are cheaper but I use this link a lot… http://www.stopagingnow.com/
Doctors are just now beginning to accept the idea of vitamins. When I asked about vitamins 23 years ago before my surgery…they told me I did not need them. I know someone who had heart surgery last year and the first thing the doctor did was to put them on pre-natal vitamins!
Even in 2004, all I was told was to take a multi-vitamin, so definitely has come far as real studies show how effective some vitamins are. Still an issue with quality control, so best to stick with ‘good brands’.
Interesting site. https://www.consumerlab.com for around $50/yr gives an accurate info on the quality of different vitamin brands. My primary doc uses it, I don’t.
Thanks for that information, Sharyn…I’m seeing my doctor next month and I already have it on my list of things to talk to him about. I have hypotyrodism and I know there is on vitamin I cannot take. Blessings to you as well!
I buy my vitamins and suppliments from Moss Nutrition, on line. My doctor refered me to them because they are pharmacutical grade and all natural. Its not the cheapest place though and I’m not sure if you can buy with out a referal from your doctor. I have to get alot of strange herbal suppliments so I have to use my doctors account number but maybe for just vitamins you wouldnt need that. I guess it depends on how picky you are with your vitamins. My doctor is under the impression that most US guidelines with vitamins and such arent up to standards and so this website has things from other countrys as well.
