Any medicines or ideas to help Aphasia?

My mom had a stroke from avm and as a result she has really bad Aphasia. She understands everything we say and can say lyrics to a song or something repetitive like how are you? she can say good or i love you i love you too. Anyone know someone or themselves that are dramatically getting better? and what are you doing to help? Or any ideas? We have been working for four years with my mom. We do melodic intonation speech therapy flash cards you name it! Any vitamin/medicine ideaS? anything! Thanks everyone!

Hi Locascio,

Sounds like you’re doing a great job taking care of your mom!

Richard Denning started a thread for how people are dealing with aphasia; here’s the link:

Hi TikkanyLoCascio18, I saw a Speech/Language Patologist for 1 1/2 years who really helped me. I’m not quite sure if this helped, but I listen to books on CD, which may be a reason why just listening to them helps me to put more words in my brain. I wish you the best!
