Anyone tried heparine (injectable anticoagulant) for your VM threatment of blood cloths?

I have gotten results from a blood sample from the other day, which showed that I have blood cloths ind my VMs. Does anyone here have experience with heparine treatment? and did it make the pain less? I am hoping to get pain relief with this treatment. Hope to hear from anyone.

Hi Eileen, thank you so much for your replies. I have consulted the doctor today and he told me that I will be using heparin injections for 6 days, together with warfarin, where I will continue to use warfarin, after the six days with heparin. I hope this will help with my extreme pain, and it is really reassuring to read, that you have used heparin with good effect. Have you any experience with warfarin, or is the baby aspirin good enough to keep the blood cloths away? Thank you Eileen, greetings to you from me, and have a nice weekend :-)

Hi Danishwoman - I was on a heparine drip, I think while I was in the Rehab. Hospital…one of the places I was at.

I remember very little now from that time, which thankfully seems like forever ago-even though it’s been 4.5 years- but I do remember being “tethered” to an IV when going down to the PT room.

As far as I can remember, it didn’t hurt…just a pain and inconvenience of the drip pole getting in the way while attempting how to re-learn how to walk.

Regarding lessening the pain, I really don’t remember…I do know that my pain “#” has significantly reduced in that time.

Thank you Eileen! I hope too :-) My mood is better, now that I get treatment, so hopefully the pain also will be less soon.

Thank you, it sounds like heparin is a common treatment for VM, I am starting today on heparin and warfarin, and I look forward to it. Have a nice weekend
