Thank You for your help.
Hello Rich:
I'm really like the numbers 6: The one that you talk about the recording device. That is one that I relly use.
I'm sure the other people can use some of them, so I'm really greatful for that.
Enrique
Hi Rich do you feel that your aphasia symptoms were alleviated by the gk tx. Because I seem to be experiencing word finding difficulty ang naming objects by the wrong name it is very frustrating. I hope once I am treated with gk or embolization that it will improve. I’m studying to be an OT and am afraid it will affect my career.
Great post Rich, fantastic info. I use some of the techniques mentioned but will also try your others. This is a really helpful post. I can relate to much of this.
Thanks for taking the time to write this!
Phil
hi enrique, yes i would say that for me, storing data, especially on the phone, people you dont know, can be such a frustrating experience. But with the recording device, you dont have to worry, can be so very useful.
Hi Cerebral ticking time bomb! I cant say that my GK improved my aphasia, no. But it did remove 90% of my AVM, and did not damage my speech or memory.
As for my aphasia, over time, it did improve - the confidence steadly got better. Generally 5 years later, i would say i had 90% back. But its never come back totally, thats certainly for sure.
hi phil, hope it can be useful!
Anyone else who has other tips or ideas, please post it here?
Thank you so much for posting this Rich! I've had this problem for a little while now. My neurologist told me it was due to the medication at the time. I've been on a different one now, Neurontin, and I still have this problem. I didn't know it was a side effect of the AVM. My husband is the worst one at being understanding when I can't talk and make sense. I have to struggle at times to get the words out and then when I say the word it's not the right one. I can't help it and half the time I just don't talk after that happens. Very frustrating for being an intelligent person.
hi caryn, glad this article has been useful for u!
Im not sure aphasia can be placed as a side effect - speech and langauge is on the left side of the brain. If its bled, you can lose part of your speech system. Some have small effects - missing a word, ummming or arrrrring moe than normal - others lose it totally. n Just depends how far out the bleed maybe?
