Hey everyone!, soooo new here and I got sent home with a inoperable ruptured avm that needs radiosurgery, i was very fortunate to not have lasting neurological damage and it’s a waiting game for now but I was given like no information and I was wondering what I can do, is there vitamins I can take or is light exercise good, I only ask cause I like to stay busy and I’m bored sitting around all day I did enough of that in the hospital.
Hi Josh. Welcome! I am a long time member but must admit I haven’t logged in here for years. Just came on to promote my new video I have made about my stereotactic radiosurgery. By radiosurgery, is that what they have recommended for you?
How are you feeling in yourself?
After my first brain haemorrhage in 2007, I was only 15 at the time and my Mum used to try and ensure I did nothing strenous whatsoever. For a few years afterwards, I did not go to the gym or run or anything. About 5 years ago, I was discussing fitness with a Doctor and he said basically I am fine to do everything I would have done regardless of my AVM.
I had another brain haemorrhage in 2019. I recall for some time afterwards there was concern about over-exerting myself.
I would recommend checking with your Doctor regarding what they recommend in terms of fitness. If you have no lasting neurological damage, maybe going for walks?
RE vitamins. Sadly not!

Hi Josh, and welcome! I had a bleed in May of 2016 and then Gamma Knife in November. I was really active prior to, my Dr. allowed me to walk post release from hospital after the bleed, and each visit he allowed a little more and more. Finally at Gamma it was anything I wanted, except sky dive, which I didn’t want to do anyway! I had great communication with my Dr. which really helped. I’d suggest reaching out and see if they respond. Public health care is great but it is important to be your own advocate. I see you are from BC, I am in Manitoba. Where is your AVM? Take Care, John
Mine is very deep central located I think around my amygdala

Hi Josh
At 19 my unknown avm ruptured and I lost the ability to walk and talk, so I get its boring and horrible just waiting around but try to be kind to yourself and take it easy.
Maybe yoga and light weights for a while. Dealing with your operation (if you have one ) or laser or other options is going to be hard enough. Research the different options so that you can ask your neuros lots of questions.
You’re on a rocky road now unfortunately but there’s still potential for you to be active later.
I’ve still managed some high altitude hikes post bleed.
