Anyone have an AVM and an aneurysm also? They found a 12 mm x 8 mm flow related aneurysm during my embolization and they filled it with glue, but I have no idea if it is common to have both, or what to expect going forward.

We didn’t know my son had an aneurysm within the AVM. His was also glued up with Onyx when he got the Embolization. Neurosurgeon told us after the procedure. We didn’t know either like you.

The risks associated with a brain aneurysm seem very similar to those of a brain AVM but involve an artery rather than the veins.
I also assist with moderating that community and it seems to me that embolization is frequently the mode of treatment used.

Yes my daughter had a few small aneurysms near her AVM and they were treated with onyx glue. It was explained to us that due to the high pressure caused by the AVM this increases the risk of developing aneurysms close to the AVM.

My daughter had several aneurysms that were part of her avm. They were embolised with squid. A new one developed within 3 months that was also embolised with onyx.

I have a brain AVM and, unfortunately, several aneurysms. Three of them quite large and located in major arteries, which ruled out the option of surgery. I was offered an embolization, but the risks of complications were high.
Thankfully, I was eligible for CyberKnife treatment 
, and now my AVM has finally started to shrink!
As for the aneurysms, their current status is still a bit uncertain. The only way to know for sure would be through another angiography. However, since the vessels feeding my AVM have already gotten smaller, my doctors believe the aneurysms have likely reduced as well. 
Hi there - new to the forum. Was recently diagnosed with both as well. I have a connective tissue disorder. I’m awaiting a cerebral angiogram. A little nervous about all of this stuff.
