Well the Neurosurgeon agreed with me, that we should at least try this. My small seizures or "faints" as I called them were, very few and it has been 10 weeks since my craniotomy.
The last 10 days my dose was reduced and then stopped three days ago. Those three days were horrid...terrible neck pain sore deepened voice....dizzy...sore painful head once again....and real sadness.
Today I feel OK, a little dizzy...has anyone else come off keppra at all, to go onto nothing??
Did you have seizures before? or did the seizures start to happen after surgery? You should talk with your physicians to see if the symptoms that you are feeling are due to weening off the meds. or post op. symptoms (i.e. swelling, etc...). Hope you feel better soon!
After being on Keppra for more than 15 months, the Prof suggested i halve the dosage for a month, then go off them completely. That was last August - no issues - other than being a grumpy old man. No wait - I was a grumpy old man before the keppra!
I came off it last month - just in time for Christmas. I should start out by saying that I never had any seizures, and this is was what the Neurosurgeon seemed to cared about the most. Even though, she only started bringing me off it 6 months after the craniotomy, so it seems my withdrawal was more gradual. So, I've been off it a month, and I've been fine - I've had a couple of minor headaches, but nothing a Tylenol couldn't take of.
