Hi all, just wanted to post a follow up, I haven’t for some time. I have had a total of 4 DAVF over the course of about 4 years or so. In August I had my first diagnostic angiogram that was fully clear and showed full restoration of all normal blood flow and no evidence of thrombus. I won’t go into all the details here, but also had a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis after a procedure, and a stent placed in a the transverse/sigmoid sinus vein on the right side. It’s been a long journey and I could write a small novel on this topic now.
Anyway, They are calling it cleared/cured with no consequences and to go about my life and forget about it.
The only unfortunate outcome is that they used radial artery access for this angiogram instead of the femoral route, because that has been accessed so many times. The radial artery clotted, and that in itself has become a small struggle. We’ve been able to restore blood flow with blood thinners, but any time they are paused for any brief amount of time, or discontinued, the artery clots again. I’m not sure I’m going to recover this artery.
So good news, bad news time! Really good to know you’re AVM free after quite a deal of it. Sorry to know it has messed up your radial artery rather.
I feel like I’ve had similar to you going on with the DAVFs. I only had one but again, had a thrombus or diminution in my right transverse sinus and the whole thing made my head feel distinctly weird for quite some time.
How’s your head feeling? How long ago did you have your embolisations? (I assume embolisations).
7/19 - embolization with onyx and nickel titanium stent placed in right transverse/sigmoid sinus
1/20 - embolization with NBCA of two very small fistula
8/21 - clear follow up angiogram
In between I’ve had a pulmonary embolism, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, partically collapsed lung and pneumonia. All have resolved fully. These were consquences of the surgeries. Trauma and hours in surgery.
