Daisy needs Help

Hi I had a Reptured AVM on Feb 10th 2012 and was treated at St Joseph's in St Paul Mn. I have had a pretty good recover it was on my left side of my Brain it hit in my motor and speech area. So far may right leg is doing the best able to walk by myself and do stairs and stairs. My right arm is still week and not a full range of motion yet.
Speech is the slowest I can communicate fairly well but have a problem getting my point out, I know the words just can not speak them.

I am having issues with dizziness and it is not vertigo it is just this weird feeling and the room seems to spin and my right side of my face feels numb all the time lots of sinus issues. Would love to hear from anyone who has had any of these issues and for how long would help me a lot.

Hi Daisy. I have aphasia from the stroke which was a result of my AVF that bled. My bleed was in May 2011 and I must say the aphasia gets better with time(trouble getting your words out to make a point). I hate word games but I did them to help my word recall and I continue to play words with friends. It’s only been 4 months since your bleed so you still have plenty of time to see improvement. Extra rest will do wonders to help your brain to heal. The medical people say you have one year to regain your functions, but others say you can continue to see progress up to 8 years. I wish you the best on your recovery.

Hi Daisy,

My husband had his bleed on Feb 19. Dizziness has been a problem since day 1. it has been improving each day with only dizziness now in the morning. He also has numbness on the left side of his face and always has food around his mouth from not being able to feel it. so far, no improvement with the numbness.

Daisy...You had your bleed just a few months ago. TRUST me...things will get better. As for your speech, are you takeing speech/language terapy? My AVM ruptured in the same area at yours. It's been 5 1/2 years and while I do still have problems speeking, it's only when I'm very tired. Hang in there...Things will get better! Stay Stronge and Stay Positive!

Thank you for words. Praying for you.

Hi Daisy. I know it seems like an eternity but PLEASE give your brain a chance to heal! The brain can heal but it does so slowly. We have an aphasia sub-group on here. http://www.avmsurvivors.org/group/aphasia-friends
