Day after Radiation

So unfortunately I thought yesterday was going to be amazing and I was going to sail right through it. Much to my disappointment 20 minutes after we left UCLA I started having a headache which I attributed to the mask being so tight on my face. Well as my headache got progressively worse and only on the left side of my head I took 2 tylenol and called the UCLA back. They decided it was best for me to turn around. It took about an hour and a half to get back and the tylenol didnt even touch me. As I sat there in their waiting room waiting for them to decide on what they wanted to do, a resident walked out and said that they have decided they want to send me to the ER for pain meds and a CT because it might be bleeding or swelling. So off to the ER we went. We waited for a physicin to see me in their ER and I was finally given morphine for my worsening headache. 2 hours passed and 2 doses of morphine later and finally I was ready to have the CT. The CT showed I had some swelling from the radiation and so I was given 5 days of decadron and have to follow up in 2 weeks with the doctor. Finally my head is feeling a little better today. Especially after Im no longer sick to my stomach from all that morphine. And I wake up today to find out that a football player was diagnosed with an AVM- My heart goes out to him and his family. As it does to everyone here.

Hi Christine. I am so sorry you had such a tough time. Let’s face it…there is no great way to get rid of an AVM. I hope things will get easier for you!!! Keep focused on the word …Obliteration.
