Yes, I get tingly sensations, like it feels asleep yet not numb. Prickly. And also have more dizziness when I don’t eat at the right times. When you’re hurting it is difficult to make yourself eat but even some toast or a spoon of pnut butter can help with the feeling. If you are experiencing new or worsening dizziness call your doctor. The er is always open too if you feel you can’t wait for your Dr. Just be aware most er have no knowledge of avms and may not do anything unless its emergency surgery. I have severe anxiety and was extremely sensitive to changes once I was diagnosed. It’s like every little thing scares you, you don’t want to miss a warning sign! I get it gemmily, its ok. We ALL have this fear, call your doctor and keep a pain journal. Maybe you can find triggers that make your pain worse or cause a headache. I’m so sorry you are going through this, but its going to be ok:) we are all here for you
Hi gemmily. Your brain has been dealt a tremendous trauma. It takes months for the blood to be reabsorbed into the body. Not to mention for any swelling in the brain to go down. Do not forget that you were also given anesthesia during any procedures. Some types of anesthesia can remain in the body for as long as a year. I felt strange after my bleed and surgery for a very long time afterward.
If you had a compound fracture of your arm…you would not expect full use of it immediately. Yet when it comes to the brain…we all want results now. I love the idea of starting a journal. This way you can keep track of your healing process!
Please keep us posted!
Here is a simple, no-frills way for keeping a pain journal @

Hi mamaginof3,
Are your "tingly & prickly sensations" constant?
As FYI, there is a very complex neuro condition known as central pain syndrome, CPS http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/central_pain/central_pain.htm which can cause these sensations...
Best wishes.
Hey Patti hope you are well yes, I have constant tingly or prickly sensations down my right arm, last three fingers of right hand, right leg down into the foot, though only periodically does my foot tingle, and then occasionally it is both feet. I get twitches in my right eyelid, cheek, and upper lip on right sideand tingling in my face. The arm, hand and thigh is in constant prickly or tingly feeling. I wrote down the central pain in the book I bring to Dr, and hope new Dr can give me some answers, thank you!! Ialso sent request for copies of MRI last year so I can send to barrow and hopefully a couple others, though his is only office confirmed to check out my scans.
Yeah my sensations are the same, yet they’re not currently constant just on and off. I find not eating makes it worse too but I also suffer with anorexia so that’s an added struggle to me at the moment too. Yeah I’m experiencing a lot of anxiety since I left the hospital and I am terrified of everything and so is my mom and its a horrible way to live! It’s because it’s all so new and unknown and we don’t know how to approach anything because we’re unsure of what’s serious or not and I’m just terrified ill have a rebleed! It’s nice to know I’m not alone in m fears as I feel less like I am over reacting. The journal is a good idea and I think I’ll try it! Thank you, that’s very kind
Hey Gemmily perhaps when u go to neurology appt, you talk to your Dr about setting you up to see a neuropsych Dr. After a brain injury (bleed, surgery) or life changing event take place, your mind needs help processing what happened, how lifestyle changes take place. And I understand having an addiction can cause you to relapse or fall into old habits (especially when scared or overwhelmed) and proper nutrition is vital in restoring your brain function right now. It is a good thing to ask for some help right now, its too much to handle on your own, that’s so cool your mom is supportive
allow your family to support you, it may be tough but you will feel less anxious once things settle into routine. Education is important but if you end up hyperventilating then just relax, watch dumb Utube videos
use your journal for thoughts and feelings too it is so therapeutic. I am praying for you Gemmily, it will get easier and.you are a strong young woman!
Also, hopefully they do full blood workup, because vitamin deficiency can drastically affect mood, thought process, physical energy. Ur Dr can tell you which m8nerals and vitamins your body needs. I also have anti nausea Med so I can eat and helps with dizziness and vertigo. It sucks to take several individual pills each morning but some people are sensitive to multivitamin. And specific vitamins may not be included. It should help tremendously with just functioning and stabilizing your body, just talkto ur Dr about it. I hope u have a great day!
