Facial Paralysis treatment

Found a Dr in Houston. Going to look into cross face nerve graft. Basically they attach muscles on paralyzed side to nerves on good side.
In the mean time, bought a Tens unit ( pulse massager ) for about 20$. Going to try to stimulate facial muscles so I don’t have to do a muscle graft as well.
Muscles are already pretty atrophied. Plan on doing it 2-3 x 15minutes a day. After 3 weeks, not much muscle contraction but facial slouch is a lot better. More symmetrical. Any questions or comments.

Hope this works well for you!

Jeremy, let us know if you see any difference with the TENS. Best of luck to you!

Starting to get movement in Eyebrow. First real visible muscle contraction. Slow and steady...

Some contraction in the cheek. Slightly visible lifting in the area of the pad. Not much results but I’ve got a year long to wait for the surgery and the nerve to grow in. Face is much more symmetrical. So from a vanity standpoint, very good;)

Lol! You’ve got a great attitude, and that’s half the battle. Stay strong and keep fighting!

Hey, J, I only have facial weakness and it has improved, but my acupuncture doc is used to all out paralysis. Check out this link. Seriously, the pictures are so compelling. It’s worth investigating if you can find a skilled practitioner!

Yes Ann I’ve investigated acupuncture. Going to use it after the nerve graft. Got a very skilled practitioner lined up. Good call

There’s also some stretches the were developed for Down syndrome that can help provide facial symmetry
