Full feeling in head but no pain

Does anyone ever have a full feeling in their head but no pain? And feel extremely sleepy but don't really feel tired? If I were at home I would probably lay down and I know I would go to sleep.

Melissa, where are you feeling the fullness? Facially? Top of the head? Side of the head?

Forehead. Feels like my head is swelling or something. No pain though. Just feels weird. I was just wondering if anyone else felt like that? It feels like that off and on between headaches. Nothing new really. I was just curious.

It could be a frontal sinus issue. That would explain the tiredness. You might want to see an ENT, but let your neuro know, too.

I used to blame my headaches on sinus problems. Used to have sinus infections from time to time. But none in the last few years. Just bad headaches, which I was convinced was sinus issues again, but then it turned out to be something a little worse. I have another appointment in the end of November. I will ask them then.

I appreciate how difficult it must be to distinguish between sinus vs. avm when the feeling is in the same spot. If you get worse instead of better, don't wait until November. I hope your symptoms resolve on their own, Melissa!

Hi Melissa,

I know exactly what you are talking about. I get that "full feeling" quite often. It kind of feels like my whole brain is swollen. Which I don't think is possible, it just feels like it is. It doesn't hurt and it feels like my whole head is pressurized. If I wake up with it in the morning, then I know I'm going to have a rough day. For me, it also affects my vision. At least I think it does. Whenever I have that full feeling, my vision is slightly blurry too.

I had two drs. tell me that I have some swelling when this happens. I don't know if they were just guessing or if they actually knew this (?). If I can lay down and take a nap, that often helps. I discovered too that if I put ice packs on the back of my neck - it will go away very quickly and I can think clearly again. When I take the ice-packs off, it comes right back. It's nothing for me to have one on for an hour or more (I change it out of course). It varies how long I have to keep one on until it stays good again. You may want to try it and see if it helps you. It's worth a shot.

I have four of those frozen soft gel packs that I keep in the freezer at all times. That way I can just grab one as I need it and exchange it for a colder one as I need too.

Ben :)
