Gamma Knife Experts

Hi everyone, I was told from barrows that gamma knife is the best for me. I trust them; the size is not small and it’s in an important area. I was told that when I get gk, to wait 3 yrs and get another angio and send it to them. Depending on how it looks, a resection or just keep watching.

I have a few questions for this community. I’d love to consider Barrows but my insurance doesn’t cover it. How is Stanford? Los Angeles? UCSD? Also, how soon did those who did gk, start it after being told said treatment option? I’m aware that gk can be done in one to multiple sessions. I imagine that the fewer it is, the larger the dose? And if resection might not be the option eventually, can avm be completely obliterated with gk alone? I’d really appreciate your answers; thank you.

Barrows is probably one of the world leaders for sure, same with Mayo in Rochester, MN. UCLA is also in the group, and I would assume Stanford and UCSD, they all likely chat. The US has some incredible treatment, my Dr. was a Canadian but did years in Pittsburg and then brought all that knowledge with him. I would recommend to get connected and have the chat. We learn quickly that in our world there is little that is certain, but for me it was to be completely at peace with my decision and my team. Take Care, John.

Hi John,

I think UCLA might be the best option for me due to closeness but I really like UCSF. I just don’t think I can cover travel expenses as it’s far away.
