Hi all who had embolization and Gamma knife treatment,
How long did your doctors suggested you to wait to have Gamma treatment since embolization?
I had my last embolization at the end of June this year and I was told today I am able to have Gamma treatment even now. As that is in another country I am not sure if I hurry up with Gamma knife treatment or if I should wait a bit.
Did you have angiography right before Gamma treatment?

my last embo was in 09/2008,
Angiography in 02/2009 (they try to embolisate the rest, but it doesn’t function)
in cause of this: Begin of radiation end of 03/2009 for 2 weeks
They told nothing about waiting.
Maybe it’s better to ask the doctor, who makes the embo?
MRI and Angio is done just before Gamma Knife, they want to take latest pictures to create the GK plan…
for me not only the processed based on angiography was laid. they have made a mask and with the mask I had to go to computertomograhpy and 2 times in the magnetic resonance therapy with and without contrast medium. All recordings were used for a 3D model of my head. it was determined with millimeter accuracy, where the irradiation must be.

I had an embolization at FEB, 2011 and had my CyberKnife treatment in JUNE, 2011. CyberKnife is very similar to GK with the difference with CyberKnife you are fitted to wear a mask vs. the frame that needs to be surgically placed to your head during for GK treatment. I had following procedures before my CyberKnife treatement that allowed for them to develop the plan for CyberKnife: Angio, CT-Angio and MRI-Angio. The doctors know what is best and would go with whatever they feel is a good plan to treat your AVM.
