MY AVM and craniotomy right frontal lobe was on 31 july this year on 1 nov i went for the crainoplasty... its actually weird the docs call me a great text book case I say strange because it sets u up to believe you will get better quickly and you don't expect complications) because apart from short term paralysis of the left side - i basically recovered almost 10% of physical functiones -its just my left hand is still quite numb....
my crainoplasty had complications - infection was found after one week and they had to operate an remover the implant.i had no symptoms - like no fever; and the scar was healing well.. i just felt more tired then normal and my hubby sent me to a &e and when they didi a basic cat scan - they saw some build up around the implant which moved my centre of the brain to the left - they arranged for emergency surgery - they thought it wad fund built up ad they yjpought they would go in and drain and try to pkug the leak... but when they opened it they saw puss covering the implant - they cleaned out the atrea again god's lessing non of the bacteria was on my brain itself; the infection propel tried to grow the bacteria in the lab so that they could give targeted abnribiortic;but it didn't grow - n i was put on 4 weeks of vancomysyn through a picc line - you can goggle the pick line to see how horrible this id - when i went back to test the effectiveness of the vanco;the cat scan show 6 mm shadow wich is down from the pre op 29 mm; they decided to maake the assumption that it was th bacteria they said the would extend the pick n vanco treatment for 2 more weeks and if the next cat scan show its still 6mm - they would then stop and assume that the infection is under control; if it grow more then they would need to think of another antibiotic..
