Did you get out of bed this morning? YAY YOU!
Did you stand up, eat a meal, have a conversation, drive to a nearby store? YAY YOU!
No matter the task, did you do something today that was DIFFICULT for YOU? YAY YOU!
I feel our world puts pressures on people, ostracizing or belittling others that cannot perform the way a “normal person” could or would. Thinking that you’re less than if you can’t do the “American thing”- finish high school, graduate college or a trade school, then get a high pristine job that pays really well. Those are stereotypical norms we DON’T have to have stress about or abide to. Those are pressures that don’t have to affected us if we chose to change our mindset.
Despite my AVM rupture in 2016, I thankfully completed my college degree. And I think other people’s accomplishments are wonderful to celebrate so everyone gets recognization and can feel appreciated and heard. BUT, graduating college isn’t a NECESSITY. For some, it may be a realistic possibility, and for some it may not be.
Either way, I just want to applaud everyone for where you are. I hope you NEVER have to live under a burden to be or do more- you know yourself better than anyone else. BE PROUD OF WHERE YOU ARE- you are loved, worthy, and accepted.
If there’s anyone who’s been affected by any type of injury to the brain and are scared to move forward with or try to do whatever they want to do (go to college, get a job, pursue what they want, be in a relationship, etc.), I’d LOVE to talk with you because I was there, too. We all are ENOUGH and amazing. So YAY YOU for all you’ve done- I’d love to chat with anyone who wants to talk ![]()
