Has anyone used UCSF in San Francisco? Is it any good with AVMs?

Hi Everyone, I am wondering whether anyone has been treated at UCSF in San Francisco for an extremity AVM? How was the experience? Would you recommend it? That is my general place for primary care so I thought I should try there first for a check up on my AVM but I would love to hear other's experiences.

UCSF is among the leading AVM specialists. While I'm familiar w/ their expertise in treatments of cerebral vascular malformations, not sure re: extremity AVMs, but would think it would be worth a call. :) http://vascular.surgery.ucsf.edu/conditions--procedures/vascular-malformations.aspx
Best wishes.

I will caution that places that are expert in brain avms can sometimes fail to provide quality care for non-brain avms. I have seen this many times with our members, including my own son. Better to go out of state to get a good outcome, if necessary.

My aunt had her AVM (brain) successfully resected by Dr. Lawton at UCSF. I'm not familiar with their exremity AVM experience, however.

Thanks everyone

Dr. Lawton is well know. Also there is a neuro radiologist(not sure of name) who is well known. All the best
