I have a cerebral AVM. It isn't uncommon at all for me to have a migraine that last several days. I also get sinus headaches and headaches from changes in barometric pressure that can last days.

I had a weather/sinus/allergy headache that lasted over a week in October.

My neurosurgeon and neurologist told me that I will probably continue to have migraines even after my AVM is obliterated. (4.5 years after finding it and 4 Gamma Knife treatments later and I'm still waiting for it to be completely gone)

I've never lost consciousness with a migraine, but I do get visual aura, and a couple of times my vision went black for a short time.

thanks so much for information i sufferd a weeks migraine thast felt like world war 3'i apriaiate the information'this week weather changed to be sunny so headake is over''waiting for mry in head hiope not to get another avm surpruze over there too///thanks for your care to give informayion'wishing you all to feel good this winter and always

Thank you for this reply. I experience the same things. What do you take, if anything, for them?

I WAS GIVEN MADUUUUUUICATION CALLED MATRIDEX'THE PROBLEM IS THEY DONT GIVE MORE THEN 6 A MONTH AND I CAN GET MANY MORE HOPE YOU FEEL BETTER

Hi-I had two cerebral AVM's.One burst about 10 years ago bringing about a massive brain bleed that nearly killed me.They told my son that when they looked at the scan it was horrible and the worst they had seen where the person survived.Nevertheless, it put me in in-patient rehab for three months and left me permanently disabled. The second one is growing and I was told it too will eventually burst but they have classified it as inoperable due to it's location.
Anyways, soon after leaving rehab I too started developing massive migraines. My family physician had me try many different prescription non-narcotic drugs but nothing worked. And because of the second AVM they strongly advised against aspirin or other non-prescription drugs that thin the blood for fear of opening up/starting another brain bleed. Now your situation sounds much different from mine so there may be some non-narcotic prescription med's out there that may help.I noticed for a long while mine would come and go like in cycles.I also learned to avoid products with caffeine or other things in them like ginseng, guarana and taurine that stimulate the brain.
As of late unfortunately I have been diagnosed also with leukemia. The migraines have also intensified and become much more frequent-daily in fact.I don't know if it's just a coincidence or if the leukemia is somehow affecting the AVM-or perhaps more likely one of the new med's I'm on now as a result-something even the several doctors that are treating me haven't been able thus far to answer me definitively. For now they have put me on a narcotic for them just to enable me to function somewhat normally.I sincerely hope you don't have to go that route though as it's not good for a variety of reason including the side effects.
I don't know if any of this helps you or not but I just wanted mainly to let you know you are not alone with what you are experiencing and to encourage you to work with your physician to look into possible non-narcotic options as there are a number of them out there..meditation and prayer included.
Best wishes and may God Bless!

I just passed my 5th year from the brain blowout and I do still get horrible headaches now and then. They are usually from too much sensory input and the brain gets pissy and shuts me down with a migraine-like horror from hell. Ugh! Not a ton helps except to watch how much input I'm giving the brain. I went to a friend's bday party at a Casino - so lights, sounds, smells, friends, talking, machines, excitements and yeah - 1 rum & coke. I was down for the count, got dizzy and nearly passed out. And lost the ability to speak for a few hours (my brain gets VERY pissy when I overload it and it throws weird symptoms at me until I get the hint and stop doing whatever it doesn't like.

My friends and the casino staff called the ambulance and I ended up spending the night in the local hospital - ugh! And my friends suck - they keep telling me about the hot paramedics who came to get me but not one of them took any pictures for me!! Skanks!! :)

But yeah- headaches have been a normal part of my life for the past 5 years when I let the brain get overstimulated. OR I have too much stress.
