Heart troubles

Anyone experience heart pains of palpitations along with their AVM/medication cocktail? I am pretty consistently at this point but can't be seen until June unless I go to the ER.

What are your meds?

Hi Holly...To be safe, I would go to an Urgent Care center if available, and if not, go to the ER to have your heart checked. Let me know how you make out!

Hi Holly,

I'm not sure what you mean when you say AVM/medication cocktail, however, would certainly suggest that you contact your primary care doctor who understands your medical history before your AVM diagnosis or, like Louisa said, go to an urgent care facility or ER to have your heart checked. As I am sure you are probably aware of, the downside to treating AVMs is that nothing is instant and there is always a large gap between follow-up appointments. It's been almost one year since my radiation treatment and 15 months since my bleed and am going in for my follow-up Angiogram next Friday to determine the state of my AVM. I am hopeful and optimistic that I will get some good news yet I have finally got to the point where I no longer live in fear of this beast that I have no control over and refuse to let it control my life. While you may not have an appointment to see your neurosurgeon until June, I would highly suggest you have your heart pains/palpitations looked into by your primary care physician - please don't put this off and have this checked just to be on the safe side. I hope to see you on June 9th for the AVM group lunch - it will be great to finally meet some AVM survivors face-to-face.

Please do get yourself checked and keep us posted.

Love and HUGS!!!!
Michele

Hi Holly yep I have heart issues too, I actually have a defibulater and have been in Afib twice.
I use to have lots of palpitations but my heart is acting normal, whatever you do don't stress ok, it's just another hurdle.

Call your doctor and leave a message NOW. They have no way of knowing you at experiencing issues unless you let them know about it. My guess is they will work you into an appointment earlier than Jun. If it gets worse…as much as we all hate it…go to the ER. Please keep us posted!

Yes I do. I notice that it skips beats but I have a heart murmur in lower area. But it does freak me out. I guess I never say much is because the extreme pain with two missing ribs on rt side at breat level t-7 area. Then this pain I’ve had from my tailbone, butt and down leg excruciating stabbing pain toe toes that feel like I froze foot in icebox. But anywhoo yeah I do get heart palpitations. Take care of yourself! Much love. Super Jen

Hi
I have an an AVM in my arm and a PFO ( hole in my heart). I sometimes get shortness of breath and Palpitations. I only found out I had a PFO when I was admitted into hospital with a suspected Tia in January.
You do need to seek medical advice as they may want to scan your heart.
AVMs can cause strain in the heart ( pending on the size) my AVM is rather large and is causing my heart to work harder.
