Hit back of head on ice rink when skating 2 days ago

I got up immediately. Could see fine, speak, and carried on. I've been feeling a bit sick since then, not bad sick and the front of my neck hurts where it got yanked back. I think my elbows took the brunt of it. Haven't been to the dr, shld I go? Not sure why I feel a bit sick.
Has anyone else done this?

Thanks

Hi Flower,

Definitely call or see your neuro. My husband took a pretty light blow to the head, years after his last embolization, and it seriously damaged his control over one of his legs. Anyone else would have been able to brush it off, but AVM brains can be fragile.

You've quite likely just had a bump with nothing needed for it, but this is a good time to be on the safe side and have a doctor check you out.

Thanks for your reply JH. I saw my dr who looked in my eyes etc. She said to watch out for certain things but I think I'm fine. My friends are going to keep an eye on me in case I become even weirder than normal over the coming days. I will mention it to my neuro when I see him. Thanks.

Hello just an update.
I went to A&E as still wasn't feeling right - nausea, headachy, moody, balance had been weird and other stuff. They did a THOROUGH neuro obs test there (unlike what my dr did. Actually not a Dr, a sister, don't think she really knew what she was doing...???)

They were VERY good and explained stuff and TOOK TIME ((which the nurse didn't).
The neck thing was whiplash. (Nurse didn't tell me that - helpful!) The other symptoms are part of a cluster of symptoms that can occur after hitting your head days after. (Nurse didn't tell me that either.)I don't need a brain scan so that's good. Next time I'll go straight to A&E.

Glad you're taking care of yourself...I hope you're starting to feel better!

You defifnitely should go to the hospital! It could be nothing but you should have a CT Scan at the very least. You may have a concussion. I did something similar last winter. Fell on the ice and hit my head in the same place as where my AVM used to be. I felt okay but my family insisted on taking me to the hospital. Had a CT and in fact had a concussion. It was fine but there things you should be aware of if you have a concussion.

Hi Trish, Hi JH

I have got concussion. The nurse talked with the dr about the need for an MRI given my history- I also landed right on my operation site and they felt that there was no need for an MRI. Just gave me an info sheet on stuff to look out for so I'm ok with that atm.

Trish - we're a right pair aren't we?!

All the best
