I am having a craniotomy next week and I'm struggling how to tell my children. I have a 4 year old and 2 year old twins. They will all be very disturbed that Mom and Dad arent home, but i'm more concerned about them seeing the staples when I get home (please gd). I am asymptomatic so it is not as if the kids have seen me act different or sick at any other time. Any advice or ideas?
Trying to always stay positive, but sometimes this website scares the ^$#!@ out of me!!
Hi, Lyla, just keep it really simple. If your son asks about your missing hair, or the staples, just tell him that people need repairs sometimes just like houses do, and that a doctor repaired you and "fixed you up." If he is worried your hair won't come back, just say, "Hair grows back. That's why we have to get haircuts sometimes -- because hair grows so fast."
Best wishes for your craniotomoy! Will you have help with the kids for awhile? I don't want them to wear you out when you get home!
