I have my appointment

I have my appointment for my Stereotactic treatment on the Novalis Shaped Beam Radiosurgery System at UCLA. (Thank you Hanne for the explanation of all the different names of treatments.) It will be on June 21st. The first appointment time they wanted to give me was on the 16th, which is the last day of school here. Since I had to go back to work I can’t miss the last day. Then they asked if I wanted to do it on the 17th. I said please give me a few days from the last day of school, so we decided on the 21st. Has anyone had this kind of treatment yet? From what I have read about this machine it is the newest one out there for radio surgery. My brain knows this will probably work out just fine. The odds are good. But that doesn’t make me any more secure. I am petrified. They said I’m scheduled for 40 minutes in the room. Hopefully the worse thing about the treatment will be the mask I have to be in.

Hi Aphrog. Please know I am praying for you! I have numerous relatives in LA and all of them are pulling for you. Stay strong you can do this!

Hi my name is Donna I am having this threatment in July. I am just waiting for my apt, I have had my mask made but I don’t have a date set yet. I wish I knew someone who has had this treatment also. I feel peaceful about my treatment, but the waiting is hard. I also don’t know what to expect, will I have bad headache due to swelling? On the 21st I will say a prayer for you, your treatment and a speedy recovery.

Hi Donna, are you having it done at UCLA with the Novalis Shaped Beam? It seemed like it took forever to me to get the appointment. They kept wanting more tests even after they made the mask. I am also worried about brain swelling and loose of memory. This site sure helps knowing I have so many people praying for me. I’ll let you know how it all goes. I also hope you get the appointment soon. Waiting is so hard.

I had my radiosurgery May 24th using the NovalisTx equipment (I’m in Texas). I had my frame placed early in the morning, then angio and other imaging was done. Because I was treated at a cancer center I had to wait for my radiation. I was in my halo about 9-10hrs. They told me the radiation would take about an hour, but I was out of there in 30min. You won’t see a beam or anything. It is very quiet. I actually asked them if they could turn on music to calm me. I am sure everything will go well =) sending prayers and positive thoughts your way! Please message me privately if you have any questions. I will do my best to answer you tonight since you have your treatment tomorrow!

I know tomorrow is a very important day to you. Even though I’m new to the site, I wanted you to know I understand your anxiety, fear and hope for better health. I’m saying prays for you all so, good luck.

Thank you so much Donna. These kind words mean the world to me
