So I got laid off a few months ago-(I’m doing fine, got a new job fairly fast), but the new job is with a really small company that didn’t offer insurance. So, I’ve had to stay on COBRA. (For those of you outside the US, this is a government mandated program where your prior insurance must cover you, but you have to pay the premiums.)
I checked around for private insurance, but I am uninsurable until the AVM is declared obliterated. I know I should be thankful that I can afford the COBRA insurance, but this isurance in the U.S. has got to be fixed. With MRI’s that cost $5000 and angios that cost $12,000, how can anyone with our condition hope to keep their head above water financially?
I’m interested to hear how those of you in other countries have fared getting access to healthcare for this complex problem?
