Is anyone taking Maxalt for headache prevention? I was taking it w/Keppra, but the docs changed the Keppra to Topomax due to obvious reasons. But I think the Maxalt is causing some serious irritability. My family doctor didn't like the fact that my neuroloigist prescribed them, so I stopped taking them and started relying more on the Topomax and noticed less mood swings. Just wondering if anyone else noticed the same issues with serious mood swings while taking Maxalt.
I haven't heard of using Maxalt as a preventative before. I've taken it for years, but only at onset of migraine--one at onset; another 2 hours later, if needed & no more than 2 in a 24 hour period.
I just picked some more up last week & still have the presciption info page on my desk. It says it should not be used to prevent migraines.
I take Nortriptylene daily to help prevent my migraines--that + better sleep has helped me tremendously. (My current neurologist gave me the option of taking Nortriptylene, Topomax or something else that I can't remember the name of. I decided to go with the Nortriptylene since it has worked for me in the past & I was leary of the Topomax side effects.)
Hi I only take maxalt when I get a really bad migraine ,well that how my dr told me to take it but I’m also on topomax daily every night so I rarely take it
