Just a quick question

Hi all,

I want to ask a question that needs to be answered urgently. Here's the question.....

I have an interview tomorrow for an office job but do not have clearance to work from my surgeon. I want to go for the interview, regardless of the outcome but I feel that i might be wasting their time and mine as well beause of this. What should I do? Should I say something about this?

Just to note that I had my craniotomy on the 11th of October this year.

I know you want to go back to work, I did, but having a brain injury takes a long time to heal. Are you on any type of disability insurance? If so, perhaps you should wait a little longer until you feel ready to work.

I agree with Louisa. Your brain needs to heal and that takes a long time. Don't rush into going back to work. you don't want to get burnt out. Maybe do some more flexible voluntary work in the meantime and see how that goes?

Shaun,
I agree with everyone else - the brain takes a long time to heal and when we overdo ourselves, over-stress, not get enough rest, etc. we 'pay' for it in the long run.
I hope you can delay work interviews at least till you've received your drs. 'ok' and reassurance you're up for it.

As other have said, waiting might be good.

In the US, a lot of the insurances and disabilities have 2-4 week waiting periods. So if you have an AVM, can't work, you wait X weeks, then draw money. If you go back, the money stops, and if you relapse, you often have to wait 2-4 weeks again before you can start collecting.

Somethin' to think about.

The other thing is if you call them explain it, and let them know that rather than waist their time, you would like to reschedule. Might give you points, who knows.
