Thanks for everybodies views on this. Luckily I have not had any problems with seizures the last year so I don’t have to consider the Keppra.

Wow, I just got off the phone with my doc’s nurse and explained the side affects of Keppra that I was having. Took about a month before I felt agitated ALL the time!! and overall ill tempered ( or so I have been told ) as well general hostility, I had begun to notice that I wasn’t happy anymore so just stopped taking it. Hope to get back normal soon. this road is becoming tiresome.
Well now after my recent hospital visit I am taking the Keppra which I never really wanted to. Only a small dose of 1000mg with my 500mg Lamical.
I am starting on 500mg and working up to the dose in 4 weeks, haven’t noticed any side effects yet.
I have been reading lots of posts on www.epilepsy.com and LOTS of negative comments?
Will see how it goes, I am grumpy enough as it is!
keppra didnt really change my attitude (I was taking 500 mg). It just made me exceedingly tired.
I have been on a 1000mg of keppra for almost 2 yrs now. I don’t see any of the anger issues that some talk about. I’m just tired all the time but that is any seizure medicine. I also take klonopin with the keppra and still don’t really have any side effects other than being sleepy. Best of luck to you and sorry about your recent seizure, hope all goes well for you with additional medicine

I think my daughter has side effects from Lamictal. She def had vision blurring from the generic version so she’s back on the name brand. She takes 100mg twice a day and the dose was determined by a blood test. They look for a certain quantity to be in your bloodstream since everyone’s metabolism is different.

i’ve just started keppra and haven’t had much in the way of side effec ts. i want to sleep a lot though.
i had been on lamictal for bi polar, then dilanton for seizures now i’m off them but i take 1000 m a day of the keppra.

I am now on 1000mg a day and feel tired all day also have lost my appetite and have lost a few pounds.
I have been on the Keppra a few months now and I have been told I get really grumpy. I have noticed I have little patience and get moody sometimes. Feel a bit depressed sometimes when I realise I am stuck with the after effects of my AVM even though it is gone, the epilepsy, headaches etc. Also I cannot be 100% sure I will not have another seizure even with the Keppra?
My epilepsy doctor has now given us some Buccal Midazepam as an emergency back up in case I have another seizure, this can be given orally and then I just “sleep it off” at home without having to go hospital, hopefully we wont have to use it.
I was put on Keppra and did not like the side effects. Felt dizzy and nausea often, short tempered, etc… I am currently weening myself off of it. I have been told that you will probably go through quite a few meds before you find one that you can tolerate.

I have been on keppra for ever and am going to change to lacosomide (is anyone on that?) I have had enough of being extremely tired and extremely grumpy, up till now I thought it was something I just had to put up with but enough is enough!

I know almost all the other AVM people in my rehab clinic were on Keppra, & they didn’t seem particularly angry at all. I’ve been on Trileptol & it’s been really good if you can be on another one?
