Hi all, So I thought I'd add a little update here since my 2 previous blogs have been about life with an AVM, Here's how life is without :) , I went back to work full time maybe a little fast but 8 weeks after my 2nd craniotomy. Its now been 8 months since surgery and I've bought a new house and decided that time waits for nothing, So if you need something then do it if you can and if you don't have the means to do it then work towards that, Nothing is impossible, Life is far too short to worry about anything you cannot control, So I'm staying positive and really moving forward with my life taking big steps but enjoying taking them also. My new house is not without its faults and needs some work done, but I'm past worrying about these. I just get on with things and do it. I'm looking at this as a nice investment for my families future, Moving from a 2 bedroom mid terrace house to a 4 bed detached house feels like I'm finally an adult with a nice new (23 years old) house in a lovely quiet area also. My previous house was on a main public road and since my kids have autism they didn't get out to play much without adult supervision, But I'm really looking forward to this summer, With the new house the area is so quiet and the kids can go out and play without a second thought :) , Will be good for them and me :). Anyway my advice for all you guys is, Don't put things off, just "jump" :) . I truly know how fortunate I am to have came through such a serious disease and now plan to look forward but also be mindful of the past, But not dwell on it. My next thing to aim for is taking my family to Disneyland before they are too old (I want to see there child faces when they see all the toons :), But I have to do work to get there as its very expensive for a family of 5 to go from Scotland to Florida..... but this gives me a goal :) ) Take care all, Keep smiling.
That’s awesome, Martin. Those are words to live by.
Thanks Tim, It makes me feel more healthy to think positive also, I think the old saying is true, Healthy mind, healthy body .. unfortunately that doesn't consider brain surgery and scar tissue lol !, But still its all wasted energy if you worry about things you cannot change and life is all about learning from your experiences :)
Hi Martin and this posting is truly inspirational! I am so happy for your lovely family and you. I wish you much happiness in the new home. You keep smiling too and yes, a positive outlook is crucial to a successful recovery. Wow, I am smiling for you now!
