This question is for anyone if your Avm gives you low energy. What have you done to raise your energy level? Neither exercises nor vitamin C help me at all. I hope this gets posted. I keep getting the message that my browser will be obsolete soon. Technology is failing me. I hadn’t been here for awhile. I haven’t been doing well lately due to low energy.
Hi Allison! It has been a little since we’ve seen you. You ask an interesting question for sure, and one I sometimes think of, but haven’t found the answer yet for sure. I try my best to balance sleep, healthy diet and exercise. I take a couple different supplements, Vitamin D(winter only), B12, fish oil and magnesium but by no means am convinced they help. I’m also looking at a change from Keppra to see if that will impact my energy levels. I think the biggest thing is rest, and recognizing when to take a break, something I struggle with and then recovery takes much longer. I do not sleep in, and get up at pretty much the sometime everyday no matter what time I go to bed. I have to put the effort into getting my “sleep in” by going to bed earlier, like the backwards sleep in.
I also find if I don’t maintain my exercise routine I start to have my energy reduce. So try to stay consistent. One of the biggest things for me is when I find myself getting tired I up the caffeine level, and that impacts my sleep. I cant have any caffeine after 2:00 or my sleep deteriorates greatly. I also track my sleep with a Garmen watch, while certainly not exact it allows me to see trends that impact sleep quality.
I guess to some up, for me it is trying to balance a whole lot of little things with the biggest being able to shut down early in the evening and go to bed! Not that easy being Canadian and having the Stanley Cup playoffs on right now! Take Care, John.
My son experienced low energy with the Keppra not the AVM at least that is what my son says. I am sure if the AVM is to blame or any medications you are in.
@Alison
Hi
Yes I have low energy post AVM rupture. Can’t really explain it and sometimes it’s bad, bearable or manageable.
I manage it by resting up the days before a big social event and keeping days free after I’ve done a long walk or similar.
A regular sleep pattern helps me a lot and generally I don’t drink caffeine. But a sleep doctor explained that coffee can help. So if I’m tiring say at 6pm, then have a coffee/ or alcohol and food to boost my activity level until 11pm, I will be ready for bed and sleep properly. I was sceptical but have found this works for me. I no longer go to bed at 10am if I’m tired, instead I make myself stay awake and then get a normal sleep.
But if the energy really is low I do go and take a nap.
Tim
Keppra has really wiped out my energy lately. If i sit for more than 15 minutes it will turn into an accidental nap.
