My self introduction!

Thank you all for having me! My surgery was done on the occipital lobe of my brain area. The imaging processing center of the brain. While I can see, I have a lot of trouble processing what it is exactly I'm seeing. This is particularly true for reading. I also have some short term memory loss. Naturally, I'm a writing. I keep a diary, have since I was a girl. I hope to blog about my recovery as much as I can about getting better. I hope I don't annoy anyone! Lol

I am the mother to a five year old boy. I'm so proud of him, he's the sweetest person I know. Since my release from the hospital, he's been my ultimate protector. The first couple of nights home, he slept in my bed because he said he wanted to check on me and make sure I was okay throughout the night. How sweet, right?

I also work as a medical lab tech/phlebotomist at a couple of locations at a walk in clinic. Currently, I'm off work because of this but I'm hoping to return to my job. My co-workers, really stepped up once they heard about what happened. I didn't expect such generosity from them. I hope to return to them to personally thank them for everything they've done.

I hope to hear stories like mine and even not so much like mines while I'm here. This is definitely a new chapter in my life. We are survivors. I know for me, the alternative to surgery was death. Sometimes I get down about my situation but I have to stop and remind myself about how lucky I am in the grand aspect of things. My doctors were/are amazing. I was told I had the best in the region. In addition to being being skilled, they were totally personable, eased my family's mind and even were funny.

Welcome Candace! Your positive attitude will serve you well as you recover. I enjoyed your introduction, as not many people have the courage to do it. It’s great to hear that your AVM is obliterated - I never get tired of hearing it!

Thank you, Tim, for reading my blog! That was encouraging! It's not always easy being positive but i'll keep that in mind on my tough days :)

Your doctors are/were amazing? Sounds like you have an amazing way of
looking at your illness and not giving up. What a fine attitude, and
surely you will continue in the direction of further improvements.

Hi Candace and I know that I just welcomed you. I agree with Tim to maintain your positive attitude; it is vital to a great recovery. I appreciate reading this posting and yay for your sweet son! My son will turn 26 in June and I have a 23 year old daughter; I am so blessed. I will keep you in my prayers.
