I wanted to ask if anyone else was feeling sort of light headed or woozy taking neurontin? I was put on it after an embolization that turned out to be pretty awful. They put me on neurontin for the pain (and it's also an anti-seizure medication from what I was told).
I can function pretty well on it but tend to feel a little light headed or woozy when I take it. Not badly enough to throw my balance off too much, but it's a little disconcerting to spend all day feeling like I just had a beer (which is all it took to get me tipsy - I'm a lightweight).
Anyone else have the same thing going on?
I've been taking Neurontin --- NOT GABAPENTIN* ---- for about 20 years now. I don't remember horrible side effects. Gabapentin, on the other hand, was useless. I was on it for a month and went back to Neurontin.*Equivalent is not exact. There could be different fillers which affect the performance. --- THAT WAS MY OPINION AS A PATIENT!!!---
I also take Dilantin. Dilantin is not 100% effective for me at normal dose. I'm pushing the limits of Dilantin and reach toxic levels (not someplace you want to be!) so they us the Neurontin to bolster the effectiveness of the Dialntin (which, knock wood, works well for me).
From the time I was diagnosed with my AVM (June 17, 1988 -- documented seizure, AVM, a few weeks/months later), I was put on most of the anti-seizure meds available. My current combination works well for me.
I was put on Neurontin in 1998 as a (hopefully) temporary treatment. Dosage was increased about every 4 weeks. I couldn't take 300mg/3x day and function so they started backing off until I was able to get off of it completely. Oh, and I'm a recovering alcoholic but was still drinking in 1998. I was afraid to drink while taking it and I was NOT a lightweight! Some people build a tolerance to that drunk-feeling side effect.
