No one understands what I'm dealing with

No one seems to get what I’m dealing with or they think I’m faking what’s going on with me I don’t understand my family gets what’s wrong but they just can’t see from my eyes how much stress I have. But my friends don’t understand sometimes making fun of me calling me special needs and making fun of seizures when they know it bugs me then they call me sensitive. Just under a lot of stress and looking for some help

People who don't have it don't get it. However, some will try to learn about it so they can be more sympathetic. It sounds like you're young and kids can be so cruel without realizing what it's doing to the other person. Glad you found our group. We ALL understand. Oh, and the last thing you need is stress. Try not to let the "teasers" get to you. Take a few deep breaths and try to laugh it off.

Hey Junior, Great profile pic! Our stories are very similar! I remember after 7th grade, when I had to quit playing football, one of the kids on my team was asked(when I wasn't around)"What's wrong with Greg?" So this joker replies, "oh, he's got fart-bubbles in his head!" I was told this by another student friend who was genuinely concerned about my health. His statement didn't bother me, because I knew this kid was an idiot, but man did it really tick off my mom! haha. Anyway, fast forward 27 years and this guy is now 40, like me, but I was the one that graduated from college and made a career for myself, and well he's still ignorant. haha Hang in there, bud. I played baseball all through varsity high school and even had offers to play at some small colleges in Texas, All WITH my avm! Don't let what other kids say about you affect who you are, and continue to have fun and play as much baseball as you can!

It could be that your friends are really scared for you, Owen, and coping with it in a admittedly stupid way -- like whistling in the dark. Adults generally do better, but not always. If you are a teen, you may wish to check out our teen group here on this site -- just click on "Groups" at the top of the page to find it. There are other teens there going through similar issues who will understand very well what you are going through.

If it helps at all to talk to someone who is also at a young age then I am happy to help. I am now cured of my AVM but was diagnosed at 14, now at 23 I can tell you i've experienced a great deal throughout school life and more to understand what it's like. Happy to chat via message.

I think you need some new friends if they think seizures are anything but horrible. The fact that they think epilepsy is funny just shows that they are worthless friends. My advice would be to ditch them and find some new friends.
