Dr Spetzlers team reviewed my case, and have said they recommend surgery on my cavernous malformation located in the upper spinal cord, it has gotten bigger and bleeding since 03. First diganosed as in the brain stem and spinal cord but they said its not in the brain stem and it has come to surface and the risk of paraylisis or death is low. Thats the best news I have heard in 10 years, if opt out of the surgery eventually with time this cavernous could cause me prolonged disabilities and more problems then what I have now. It amazes me how I have always been told to leave this along the risk of surgery is too large to... yes have surgery, I will be better off!! Thanks to god and recomendations from my pal dandelion wishes that I meant on here. With this said, has anyone had surgerical complications on a cavernous located in upper cervical?
Chrissy, you may be the only one here with a cavernous mal in the cervical spine, but I can tell you a least a couple of dozen members here have had their avms obliterated by surgery, and a good number of those were cervical spine. As to complications, have a discussion with Spetzler about that; other members' complications aren't necessarily predictive of your experience.
I am very excited about your good news! Keep us posted.
