Hi All,
Just looking if anyone else has had aneurysms secondary to AVM resection? Last angiogram showed three small aneurysms, which neurosurgeon called low-risk. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Well, yes, sorta.............. Chari had 3 embolizations, then while reviewing her scans, the DRs said they saw an aneurysm. They couldn't/wouldn't say if it was there all the time and no one saw it, or if it just showed up after the embos. After her 4th embo, they did surgery to correct the aneurysm.
They said it was not too smart for her to have them fix the AVM and not the aneurysm, but her's might have been at a higher risk of bleed, or been larger, don't know.

Barbo, I can't judge the quality of the articles, but they are worth discussing with your doctor:
Apparently size matters? You might ask what size your aneurysms are. And growth is a sign of increased rupture risk:

Thanks Dancermom... they are small (3mm). I am due at the end of the year for another angiogram. Guess we will know then if there is any growth.... thanks again!
Hi Ron - funny you said that. The neurosurgeon said they weren't sure if they were present pre-AVM resection, or since the AVM resection. How is that, when they did angiogram the day before the resection, and right after the resection before I left the OR? They didn't find them until my 3 month follow up angiongram. My guess is no one saw them...How did they miss three of them? Thanks for response!
