Morning everyone.
My neuro said that I could have future pregnancies after my surgery. Does that sound right? On my good days, I like to pretend and fantasize about having a future. I;m 80% sure that I would be too scared to have another because my rupture happened during pregnancy. I just feel like the dynamics in my brain must be warped since surgery. wouldn't that mean that the massive blood flow of pregnancy could cause another incident? I have an aneurysm that my doc is hoping to see fade or disappear. I don't think that will happen but cautiously hopeful. thank you and blessings to you always.
Morning i had a brain hemorrhage during my pregnancy. I had surgery because i had an avm ?? never heard of it before and had to live with all the damage the bleed caused. After 4 months I gave Birth to our daughter. Cant imagine my life without her. But i find it very hard. I hope You find a Way to make up your mind and i Wish u all the best. Love from Holland.

Hi there! I had 3 babies after having had my craniotomy. I had no complications during pregnancy related to my avm (AVM was removed long time before I had my children). Yes, I was scared during pregnancy and labor, but all went well. You can email me if you'd like ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■

Hi,I had my daughter 6 yrs after my brain AVM bleed and I was scared during pregnancy and labour but everything was fine, wish you all the best,x
Hi Dee! I understand your fear. I never had any children as a result of it. Good thing too, as I hemorrhaged many years after the time I would have had them. I knew I was never strong enough to raise them. I would be so grateful for what I have and keep it at that. If you don't, I would deffinitely go with a cesearean section. Labor is a severe strain, although so is pregnancy. When I was first diagnosed, after my first hemorrhage, I was told that cesearean is the way they would have to go. Good luck and enjoy your little one!
I had my AVM rupture during my pregnancy. I was 20 weeks when I had the craniotomy and carried full term; delivered without a c-section. I plan on having at least one more, no one sees a problem with that except my neurologist is concerned about my medications. That's pretty much the biggest worry.
I think everyone has a fear of a bleed happening again...i know everytime im doing the same thing that i was prior to my bleed i get anxious about it after nearly 3 years later. Phsycologically it is mentally scary but i think that is normal...If your neuro says its okay then they should know best. If concerned get a second opinion...God bless
I was blessed with four children after my surgery. Three c-sections but one was natural. My doctors were fantastic at working together to make sure everything was ok, and thank God it was each time. If you have concerns you should always discuss them with your doctors and decide if what they say logically makes sense. Fear isn’t the worst thing but letting fear control you can be. Good luck to you and your family and God bless.
Dee,
If your Nuero said you can, then I would remain positive. We’re all survivors with a second chance at life. Live it to the fullest, and don’t leave any regrets. If you want to put your mind at rest, get a second opinion. I wish you the best!
Regards,
Tim
I had a craniotomy, 2 coilings and gamma knife to fix my AVM… In may of last year my neurosurgeon said it was ok to get pregnant. I had a bouncing baby boy this January, nine months after getting the ok! I did fine and they took him via csection… Good luck!!
Hi Dee!
Have you asked your Doctor? I had 5 babies before my surgery, and never had a bleed during pregnancy. I can see how that scares you since yours was during pregnancy. However, I asked my doctor if it was ok for me to ever get pregnant again, and he said yes :) Its been one year since my surgery.
Hi there i had 2 boys with an avm which had bled previously but not been operated on due to the position and time 1979. My pregnancies were fine. 2 elective caesarian births to save me from any birthing problems. However i was taking tegretol for complex partials and my youngest son now 23 is autistic that would be my concern.
HI there. I have a Cerebellar AVM that was found when I was 14. I was never told at the time that there would be any risk with having children. And by my late 20s I felt ready for them. I now have 2 kids, aged 10 and 6. My AVM is unruptured and in my first pregnancy I had prolonged headaches and sickness. After 6-7 months this ceased and the rest of my pregnancy was fine. My second pregnancy was completely different and I didn't have any unusual symptoms at all. Both children were born by C-Section though as I was advised that going through labour could lead to problems with my AVM.
