I have two bald spots from radiation. From what I understand, the hair loss happens all at once. I was wondering if anyone had more than one day of hair loss? Is it safe to get my hair cut to fit the spots I have?
My son lost his hair after embo's and surgery. The whole back of his head ended up going bald over a few weeks time. It has been 4-5 months, and it is all grown back. Good luck :)
I've lost hair over 2 periods of time (I had 3 rounds of Gamma Knife). It wasn't all in one day, but over a period of time. I no longer have a completely bald spot, but I feel like it is still coming out more than what was usual for me prior to all of this.
When I started losing hair the first time (a little over a year ago), it was all on one side, so I had my hair cut into a side-part bob to bring hair over from the "good" side to help cover up the balding/thin spots AND the part that was shaved for surgery. (I had a craniotomy to clip to aneurysms a month after my first GK for then AVM).

Thank you for sharing! The doctors all say different things! The radiation oncologist seemed to be the bests for information. This site is a great resource to gather information for people who have been there!

I had hair loss My SRS was in Jan and about one month later I discovered my bald spot. It lasted about 6 months. Luckily it was a patch under the top layer of hair so you couldn't really see it. Yes it is safe to do whatever want with your hair. good luck!
I lost mine about 2 weeks after. I was told that I would not lose my hair because it is deep seated. My spots are covered by the hair I have too! Unless I mentioned it know one would know. I did get a few more spots, but they all seem to be in a middle line from one ear to the other. How is the SRS working for you?
Hi Melissa-I know that hair loss can be a big wham-o shot to the self-esteem, especially for women…but know that this is a totally normal process and that it will eventually grow back.
It’s been a while for me, but the one guy completely shaved my head-and I had a styling’ eye patch…great look if you’re a pirate in drag.
The bright side, however, is that it grew back evenly eventually, plus it gave me a chance to not stress over my tresses, as they say, and focus more on finding and developing my sense of humor.
